🎸 Blues Lick of The Day #9
This lick played over the turnaround of a 12-bar blues progression, has me targeting the chord tones of the V, IV and I chords as and when they appear.
‘Chord tones’ are what you call the individual notes that make up a particular chord type. Similarly to how we call the notes of a scale, ‘scale degrees’.
The chord tones of the dominant 7th chord (the chord type for all three of the chords in a 12-bar blues progression) are:
Root - 1
Major 3rd - 3
Perfect 5th - 5
Flat 7th - b7
