This is a fingerstyle riff in the key of A minor, inspired by Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham. It's built around the open A string, which I use as pedal tone, over which I play a sequence of fretted double-stops (two-note chords) in major and minor thirds up and down the D and G strings, followed by arpeggiated triads (three-note chords) on the D, G and B strings.
I use my thumb to repeatedly pick the open A string and strum the fretted double-stops with my index finger, using an upstroke motion. The index finger also picks out the arpeggiated G, D, F and C triad shapes in bars 4 and 5. The final A5 chord is plucked with the thumb and index finger.
The tempo is 137 beats per minute, 90 for slow practice.
