This is part two of a three part series on how to use your warm up routine to become a more melodic guitar player. In this video I go over how to take a simple chord progression and use it to develop picking hand accuracy by introducing various single note patterns. At the same time we can work on our fretting hand accuracy by making sure that the notes of our chords are ringing out clearly. When you do this in conjunction with other techniques like hammer-ons and pull-offs you are forced to really listen to what you are playing. This has an added benefit of training our ear and teaches us how we can drastically very our melodies by just changing up the picking pattern or adding a hammer-on or pull-off here and there. 90% of the time we play guitar wether it's just learning songs or playing in bands we are going to be playing rhythm. We might as well sharpen our rhythm skills in our warm ups. Give it a shot. I promise in a couple weeks you will hear the difference!
