In this video, Leigh Fuge, a guitar teacher reacts and breaks down the five most challenging/hardest guitar riffs of all time AND shows you how to play them properly! Leigh reached out to musicians across social media to ask which riffs they loved but had trouble learning and they came back with some pretty difficult guitar riffs that we all hate trying to learn. The five riffs featured in the video come from Aerosmith, Metallica, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Vufpeck and Led Zeppelin, so it's fair to say there's something for all guitarists here! Best of all, these are the riffs and songs that WatchMojo decided to leave out!
The first riff is the verse riff from Aerosmith's "Walk This Way." This riff is centred around a C power chord and uses a 12-bar blues shuffle pattern. However, it's probably one of the most difficult guitar riffs to get right!
The second riff is from Metallica's "Master of Puppets " - notably, the "spider riff" at the start of track. To play this riff accurately, you have to be able to downpick fast, which can be a challenge in itself - but hey, that's what Hetfield is famous for, right?
We also get an insight into how to play Vulfpeck - 'Back Pocket' made famous by Cory Wong's infamously difficult rhythm guitar techniques.
Of course, we are also shown how to nail the Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas Shuffle as well as the most difficult parts of Led Zeppelin's 'Black Dog' - specifically the really confusing turnaround.
Let us know if you have any more HATED guitar riffs you'd like us to look at!
